TeamGym is a modern gymnastics discipline, using elements of gymnastics and acrobatics.
TeamGym's roots go back to the Scandinavian countries in the first half of the 20th century. The first TeamGym competitions were later formed here. Hence the term "Nordic triathlon".
The first European Championship, still called EuroTeam, took place in 1996 in Jyväskylä, Finland. In 2003, the sport was renamed from EuroTeam to TeamGym. Since 2010, the official European Championship has been held.
TeamGym does not have a World Cup yet and is not in the Olympics program.
Athletes compete in the categories of men's, women's and mixed teams (MIX). Each team consists of 8 - 12 competitors. Each competition consists of 3 disciplines:, floor, trampette and tumbling. The team with the highest sum of points from all disciplines becomes the winner.
The floor exercise - contains gymnastic (eg jumps, pirouettes, turns), balance and strength elements (eg headstands and handstands) and acrobatic elements (eg rolls, flips and somersaults). The composition lasts about 2:30 minutes accompanied by music. All members of the team take part in the movement compositions.
Tumbling - competitors practice immediately after each other. The aim is to demonstrate three different series of dynamic acrobatic series that contain at least 3 different elements. The 6 best competitors of the team always train in each row.
Trampette - basically coincides with tumbling. 6 team competitors in three different series will perform jumps on a small trampoline. At least one series must be performed over the jump table and one without it.
TeamGym Junior - For younger competitors and older competitors with lower performance, the Czech Gymnastics Federation has created TeamGym Junior rules, which are a simpler analogy to TeamGym rules.
Little TeamGym - For complete beginners, there are even simpler rules that no longer contain the Floor Exercise and only Tumbling and Trampette are practiced.
